DIVERSITY EFFORTS RECOGNIZED  
"Ford is the first and only U.S. auto company to be listed on the 1999 Gay and Lesbian Values Index of top 100 companies on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. Inclusion on this list is important because it enhances our image in a largely untapped consumer segment as well as recognizing that Ford values all its employees. Ford Gay, Lesbian or Bisexual Employees (GLOBE) resource group members educated Grant Lukenbill, whose firm publishes the index, about Ford's diversity efforts and zero tolerance of harassment. This year's index includes America Online, American Express, AT&T, Genentech, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Pfizer, Starbucks, Xerox and others. Ford's inclusion on the index is a positive endorsement of our commitment to diversity."
