2009 DiversityInc Top 50 Recognition - Ford is #28

DiversityInc has announced its 2009 Top 50 Companies for DiversityŽ, and Ford is ranked #28, down one spot from our 2008 ranking. In addition, Ford is ranked #3 on the Top 10 Companies for Supplier DiversityŽ.

Luke Visconti, the CEO of DiversityInc, commended Ford for its placement on the list especially given the difficult business environment. "A perennial DiversityInc Top 50 company, Ford has remained a diversity leader even as its industry is in turmoil. It consistently has been the highest-ranked auto company because of its commitment to an inclusive work force and its strong community philanthropy."

GM and Chrysler were not named to the 2009 Top 50 list this year, although GM was ranked #44 in 2008. However, they were both included on the 2009 Top 25 Noteworthy Companies list. This is a list of companies that DiversityInc considers rising diversity-management leaders that are close to earning spots on the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for DiversityŽ list.

Toyota Motor North America moved up on the list to #40 from a ranking of #48 in 2008. It was recognized for its employee resource groups and its major effort to increase its workforce diversity.
